70 years is a long time to celebrate any event in our life times. On Friday night in front of a jam packed gym and hundreds of alumni wrestlers in attendance, the St. Charles Saints celebrated their 70th anniversary of wrestling. PEM was honored to be a part of the party and the festivities.
The young Bulldogs did not back down as the night ended, with 2 victories over Wabasha-Kellogg and St. Charles. PEM defeated Wabasha-Kellogg 57-12 and St. Charles 48-22.
Commented Coach Pfeilsticker, "St. Charles put on quite a show for appreciation to all of their alumni wrestlers and coaches, it was great to see all the tradition they have built in 70 years."
Added, Coach Daren Wingert, "Cooper started it off with a big pin at 107 and with Nash and Nolan Ford pulling off close wins, our momentum just snowballed from there."
Coach Bobby Bedsted summarized, "our top 4 wrestlers our really starting to become closers in these duals. What seemed like a close match ended in 4 pins on the top. Congrats to Brady Melcher for earning his first 2 varsity wins!"
PEM will now host 2 events this weekend. A home Three Rivers Conference triangular will take place Friday night starting at 5 PM. PEM wrestlers will be recognizing numerous educators this Friday as part of the annual Teacher Appreciation Night. The grapplers will face Grand Meadow-Leroy-Ostrander-Southland then take on the Eagles of Dover-Eyota.
Saturday PEM will host their annual PEM Invite. 12 teams from across southern MN and Western Wisconsin will battle it out individually. Action starts at 10 AM.
