The Bulldog wrestlers this past week took care of business in front of hundreds of parents, fans, and in honor of teacher appreciation night, numerous educators too! PEM knocked off Caledonia-Houston as well as FCLMC on Thursday night in front of a raucous crowd excited to see the win streak continue.
The grapplers showed their GRIT once again as they started with tough wins in the lower weights versus the Warriors, then finished the visitors off with tough wins in the middle and upper weights. PEM coach Nate Pfeilsticker commented, "nice win to beat our rivals from Caledonia-Houston! Final: PEM 39 C-H 26. Some guys had to really step up to help secure the win, Owen Zabel and Easton King won tight matches and both Alex Hinrichs and Alex Bedsted finished them off with 10 points total!"
It was a special night as each wrestler nominated a favorite educator of theirs in both the K-6 and 7-12 buildings. Added PEM coach Marc Melcher, "cool night for teachers and kids. I think we had 90% of teachers show up for pictures and a PEM wrestling poster to celebrate the night. Our district has been really blessed with great teachers and they showed up in droves Thursday night to celebrate the occasion!"
PEM will hit the road this week as they travel to Pine Island on Thursday night and Chatfield on Friday night. Added coach Cam Miller, "this will be a good test for our wrestlers this week. We see Kasson-Mantorville who was in the state finals at PI on Thursday, then back it up with another battle with returning state champion, Chatfield on Friday"
