The PEM wrestling team wrapped up their season at the Mayo Civic Center. The 2 day tournament had its ups and downs for the young grapplers as they exceeded expectations with 8 individuals earning hardware and a spot on the top 6 podium. But the ultimate goal of a trip to the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul last week was not realized as all 8 individuals fell short of placing in the top 2 in their respective weight classes and a trip north to the Twin Cities. Coach Pfielsticker commented, "we had multiple wrestlers outdo their seed. You gotta hand it to Maeson Tradup and Logan Dittrich who finished higher on the podium than most expected. They really stepped up their game this weekend."
The Bulldogs will now head to the off-season with determination in mind of getting into the top 2 in sections next year. All but one of the section placers (Dominic Michel) will be back in a year at Mayo Civic Center. Coach Cam Miller added, "it's back to work time for this crew. If they put in the hard work necessary to compete with the K-M's, Z-M's and Albert Lea's of this section, the sky's the limit for this group going forward into the 23-24 season".
