PEM Varsity Wrestler of the Week: Austin Rother
Austin Rother is this week’s PEM Varsity wrestler of the week. Austin is the son of Ed and Donna Rother and is a junior at PEM high school. Austin earns the honor this week for getting a big pin vs. Chatfield and and winning first place in the Rochester Century tournament. This was Austin’s second tournament championship of the season. Austin has long been a very hard worker in the PEM wrestling and football programs, but this year has taken on added significance as he has battled back victoriously from ACL reconstruction, an injury that ended his sophomore season. In addition to his work on the football field and wrestling room, Austin has also dedicated himself in the weight room and in the classroom, currently carrying a 3.9+ cumulative GPA.
PEM JH Wrestler of the Week: Alex Rahman
Alex Rahman is this week’s PEM JH wrestler of the week. Alex is the son of Tim and Kelsey Rahman and Stacy Chapman and is an 8th grader at PEM JH. Alex earns this award for winning championship honors in the Rochester Century Junior Varsity Invitational. Wrestling at 160 as an 8th grader is very challenging because your opponents are usually 1-3 years older. Alex has continued to persevere through this season, and he is continuing to improve week by week. Alex is also a very good student, dedicated to lifting weights before school and in the summer, and is also involved in the PEM football and track & field programs.
