The Bulldog Grapplers wrapped up a busy week starting Monday night and finishing Saturday with 6 duals in a span of 6 days. PEM traveled to Pine Island last Monday and ended the night with an impressive sweep of Rochester John Marshall and Pine Island. PEM defeated JM 72-12 and Pine Island 50-20.
Commented Coach Pfeilsticker, "PEM showed their resilience tonight in front of a tough Pine Island crowd. Not all official calls always go your way, but our guys moved past that bothering us as the Bulldogs showed their focus with a strong victory!"
PEM then made the trek to LaCrescent on Thursday night in a TRC and Section battle. The Bulldogs prevailed with another strong showing in front of a parents night crowd for the Lancers. PEM 69 LaCrescent 10. Added Coach Bedsted, "you never know how the team will wrestle after a long road trip. I was proud our guys showed the Guts to get after the Lancers. Nolan Ford 's overtime win was the highlight of the evening. He made a beautiful shot to secure the win!"
The Grapplers then headed to Cannon Falls on Saturday to take on some of Minnesota's best. The home town Cannon Falls Bombers, AAA state ranked Northfield, and Waseca awaited PEM. The Bulldogs pulled out a crucial victory over Section 1AA rival Waseca to end the day and helped PEM finish the week with a 4-2 mark. Coach Cargill commented, "this has to be one of the tougher dual tournaments our state has to offer! Northfield showed us the level we need to work towards as they had no mercy. But I was really impressed with the Improvement in our guys as they stayed the course and defeated a tough Waseca team 45-33!" Ending the day on the All Tournament squad were Aiden Graner, Martin Prieto and Drew Rahman with impressive 3-0 overall records. Congrats guys!
