The snow, wind and ice didn't deter the PEM wrestlers, coaches and fans from working together to pull off the annual home invite. With mother nature not on our side, PEM was forced to postpone the Friday night home triangular with D-E and GMLOS, but instead put their efforts into making sure the annual home tournament was a success. Not only did 8 teams show and compete on Saturday, PEM flexed their muscle and earned 2 pins in the final 2 weights to take home the gold this past weekend. Alex Bedsted and Drew Rahman helped the cause as they each pinned their opponents in the finals match to help the wrestling team overtake St. Thomas Academy to send the home crowd home happy!
Added Coach Pfeilsticker, "we were on pins and needles wondering Friday and early Saturday if we could get the tournament in or not? Hats off to our PEM parents, coaches and wrestlers for working through all the difficulties to make this happen! The snow, wind and ice held off just enough for us to get a quality tournament in!"
PEM used a well rounded lineup with championships earned by Nash Graner, Aiden Graner, Alex Hinrichs, Alex Bedsted and Drew Rahman to catapult the Bulldogs to the top! Commented Coach Cam Miller, "Beddy and Drew completely dominated the day! They both pinned their way through the tournament. Pins helped us fight off a pesky St. Thomas Academy team who are loaded through the middle weights."
Karen Miller also joined the tournament as she presented 2 more AED's to the LaCrescent and St. Thomas Academy teams to be used at their schools for future emergencies. The Miller family has continued their work with the AED's for Aidan program the past 3 years. Numerous schools in southeast Minnesota have now been the recipients of AED's as the cause continues to gain momentum in our region. Added Coach Bobby Bedsted, "I'm grateful Karen could join us for the awards ceremony and the true winners on the day are the LaCrescent and St. Thomas Academy schools! Thank you Karen!!!!"
